Aggravated robbery at Feilding supermarket

A man armed with a hammer has robbed staff at the Feilding Countdown supermarket, in what's the third hold up targeted at Countdown branches in the last few days.

The aggravated robbery happened just before 10pm last night, after a man in disguise robbed two cashiers of money.

Acting Detective Senior Sergeant David Thompson says no one was hurt during the robbery but staff members are clearly shaken.

The male is described as light skinned, of thin build, who was wearing long pants and a blue hoodie.

After leaving the store it is believed that he ran in the Bailey/Denbigh Street direction.

Countdown is reviewing and increasing security at its stores.

The other two hold-ups happened in Palmerston North stores just before Christmas.

Police want to speak with anyone who was in the Countdown store at the time of the robbery and also to anyone that may have seen a male running in the Bailey, Denbigh, and York Street area of Feilding at around 9.45pm to 10.00pm yesterday evening.
